11/11 - I will go ahead and be cliche and say I am thankful for veterans. I'm not very into armed conflict/war/military/guns/the reasons we have gone to war/etc., but I do recognize that there is a time and a place to help protect people. And while U.S. soldiers are paid for their service and receive certain benefits, I do think it is right to honor them above and beyond most other civilian professions. Because I think that they still pay a greater price for their service than we can ever compensate sometimes - with their lives, the loss of time with their families, injuries, and the widespread mental and emotional trauma that so many soldiers come home with, and often have trouble dealing with for the rest of their lives.
So thank you, veterans and those actively serving, for protecting our freedoms and serving our country.
