So last night I decided to give up my goal of running the Des Moines Half Marathon. I've been diligently training for it, but not enjoying myself that much. I do like running, but when I have to push myself so hard, so fast (upping distances by a mile at a time is not easy!), it's just not fun anymore.
I'll keep running, but I'll take it a little easier and increase my distance at my own pace. Right now I'm running longer distances than I ever have in my life, and I'm really proud of that. I'll still sign up for the 5k race that day (so I'm not the only non-participator), but I think the half marathon is too much for this fall. Maybe I'll get closer to that distance next year.
Caleb and I are also eating really well lately (cuz I've been doing the grocery shopping). :) We have lots of fruits and veggies around, and love using our new grill. We're perfecting our grilled veggies - got squash and zucchini down, next up, eggplant and asparagus I think. Now if I can just ease up on the olive oil I drizzle (pour) all over them. We've also been having lots of awesome fruit - grapes and cherries are really good right now - and spinach salads... yum!
I've been working on cooking more and trying new things, and I hope I keep it up. I did make macaroni and cheese this week, but just once for lunch! I'll have to break out my cookbook, stock our cupboards and fridge more, and get cookin'!
