So, I hate to jinx myself, but I am just feeling so GOOD about my life right now. I finally feel like I am headed in the direction I am meant to, instead of treading water with a job I am lukewarm about, always feeling in transition between towns and jobs, etc.
Tonight I have an orientation, dinner, and formal board meeting to attend for my new job at NIACC. My start date coincides with 4 new foundation board members starting their terms, so I am able to get a lot of information tonight when I sit in on their orientation. I'm really excited to learn about and meet my new "family." Many of them are big names in the area, so working closely with them will be a great opportunity.
I am also looking to the future as far as my education goes. I'll need to talk to my boss, as I'm not sure how long I have to work there to get some of their benefits, but I think I could possibly start grad school as soon as next spring. I will be putting a lot of thought into what I want to go into, but with this job, and my renewed dream of public service, I'm really considering public administration. I also know that I want to get all school out of the way before we start thinking about kids, so I want to get started soon!
Caleb and I have also discussed taking some Spanish classes together. We really want to raise our future children to be bilingual from day 1, and although I know we may not be fluent enough to do it ourselves, we want to get them started. Then we'll have them work with a native Spanish speaker to learn correct Spanish, instead of whatever broken Spanish we'll be attempting to teach them.
I'm also looking into some other non-credit courses to take, things like graphic design, webpage design, advanced Excel, etc. If I can take these classes for free, I want to take as much as possible!
And lastly (and probably most importantly), I'm excited to learn about my new job. I've been pretty bored working from home with a client I dislike, so jumping into a new environment and learning new things and ways I can contribute is exciting.
