5 weeks (but probably more)

It's really getting down to it. It's almost August, which is like the final countdown (I'm gonna save that title and song until we get a little closer!).

Anxiety Girl continues, but not too bad. The baby showers were great last weekend. We brought home so many gifts for Baby C, and it was so fun to see so many people who already love her and are so excited to meet her. We did receive a lot of clothes (which yes, she will need), but also plenty of useful other things too. We also received some very sweet, sentimental things from family, along with the painted dresser to complete the nursery! We've got a couple more baby showers to go (some are just small work get-togethers), so those will be fun too.

My mom cross stitched these bibs and the shoes were my mom's and also worn by my sister and I

The quilt was made by my great aunt and the other 2 blankets were made by my grandmas
This week Caleb and I had lots of baby stuff going on. On Tuesday we met with our doula, Shawna, where she showed us some comfort techniques and we walked through what to expect when I go into labor. I feel so reassured that she will be there with us - I really think it will be helpful to both Caleb and I. Caleb of course is my #1 partner, but I feel better knowing that we can stay at home (until the actual birth) with someone who knows what they are doing and can help us get through it together.

On Wednesday, we had a midwife appointment, where everything checked out fine again. My biggest issue lately has been swelling in my feet and hands, to where I can feel it more now and it can get uncomfortable. But it's all normal and I just keep pushing fluids, staying [moderately] active, and propping my feet up when I can. I am measuring right along with how far along I am, so Baby isn't getting too big, which is nice to know. My blood pressure was up from what is normal for me, so we will watch it on future visits. Normally I run really low - around 100/60 - and this week it was 120/80. That's normal, but it shows that it is increasing for me. Hopefully it stays normal or goes back down so I don't have to worry about that towards the end.

After the midwife appointment, we went to a newborn care class put on by the hospital. It was pretty basic, but we definitely learned some things. Mostly though, Caleb cracked me up through the whole thing. I was almost crying at one point when he was mocking the baby doll we were working with....

He always cracks me up
While I really am feeling pretty good, I do see how towards the end you just inevitably feel ready... maybe not ready to care for a baby or have your whole life change, but definitely ready to be done being pregnant and also to just move on with things! It feels like a lot of hurry up and wait... I will be 35 weeks on Sunday, but I need to mentally prepare myself to be overdue, just in case. I'm also getting progressively uncomfortable, with just tons of pressure in my bladder/front pelvic area. Baby's head is sitting right on my pubic bone, which is good that she is head down, but not very comfortable. As she continues to gain weight, it's only going to get worse. I'm definitely in the stage where I'm making lots of trips to the bathroom, because she is right on my bladder. Sometimes I even just get done peeing and she shifts and wiggles around, making me feel like I have to go again. It's super fun.

This weekend I hope we can get some stuff hung on the walls of the nursery and some more house stuff done. Here's some pictures of the nursery how it is now - all the furniture is there but it's pretty bare! The curtains were made by my mom and grandma and I love them! The blanket on the chair matches them perfectly.

And finally, another crazy belly video. She was pushing with her hand or foot (something little), and it jut looked so strange! Love how she responds to me pushing back, too.... :)
