Pelvic Pain & Nursery Started

Baby C and I are chugging along... we are at 29 weeks and it's hard to believe we have less than 3 months to go. Also it feels like the summer is going to stretch out for a long time ahead of us.

Below is my 29 week photo..... lots of baby there. I was looking back at my first few "bump" pics and laughing.... around 20 weeks or so when I felt "so huge".... and of course I'll be laughing in 2-3 months when I thought that I felt so big at 29 weeks.

One new not-so-fun development has been some pelvic pain lately. I'd been feeling it for a while but didn't actually look into it until this last weekend, when I decided to get ambitious and mow the lawn, weed eat, and do other yard work.... and then pay for it later. After all that, I was destroyed for the rest of the weekend. Like so sore and achey and in pain, I could hardly waddle around. Not cool.

I've been having pain in my outer hips for a while, sometimes achey, sometimes a little throbbing, but I figured I was just stretching out and also was dealing with sleeping on my side all the time (super fun to be in pain when in bed!). But the pain was such this weekend that I Googled, and lo and behold, of course what I am feeling is "a thing" with pregnancy (everything is)! Now while I thankfully don't have the extreme version of it, I have been experiencing some symphysis pubis disfunction. The most telling sign has been pain where I thought my pubic bone was, which is actually your symphysis pubis, where the front of your hip bones meet with a little cartilage in between. In pregnancy your hormones relax all your joints, especially in your pelvis, and in this case, it's getting a little too relaxed to where the joint is unstable and getting inflamed.

I was able to get a good amount of relief from rest, some special exercises, and literally icing my crotch (right on that joint), and now I know what to avoid in the future, namely pushing movements (such as mowing, vacuuming, or pushing a heavy stroller/cart), heavy lifting, and some hip movements like lifting one leg while standing (I now sit to put on pants and shoes). I also do some PT exercises pretty much nightly and it's been helping.

Other than the hip/pelvic pain, things have been good. I do get seemingly sporadic ankle/foot swelling that doesn't really match up with my activity for the day, so I don't know exactly what makes it worse one day vs. the next. I also can't wear my wedding ring anymore, which is much more sad. I'm wearing a different ring on that finger, but I am bummed to have to leave the wedding ring at home.

Right foot/ankle is always worse....
So while I was killing myself doing yard work, Caleb and his mom were painting the nursery! Here is a picture of it all finished - I really like the color!

It looks darker in this photo than it really is
I also picked out fabric for curtains and a crib skirt that my mom will make. I think it will brighten up the room and bring the main colors together.

I can't wait for things to keep coming together! I also have been finishing up my baby registries and saw that some items have already been purchased! (We registered at Target and BuyBuy Baby.) The registries caused me a lot of headaches (and some tears), but by god, we are almost there. There is just so much stuff and different options/opinions on what you need/want.... it was really overwhelming.

Baby C, we are getting there! Just chill out for a while longer..... :)
