Over Achiever & Nursery Plans

First of all, great news! I passed my gestational diabetes test SO HARD. Like, killed it. They want you to be between 70 and 140 mg/dL (I don't know what mg/dL means), and I was at 99. NAILED IT.

Caleb had a good time making fun of me being an over achiever like usual for this "test," which I was determined to "pass" (despite gestational diabetes largely being out of one's control, unless you are extremely obese or something). I did my best to eat healthy and low-sugar/carb the day before and had a high protein breakfast, and hey - it paid off. :) They did tell me my iron was a tiny bit low (normal for this stage), so I might need to either do a small supplement or do better about increasing the iron in my diet. I am also back to measuring right on track with where I should be, so Baby C must have had a bit of a growth spurt before my last appointment and has settled down since.

In other pregnancy news, I am officially in the third trimester! Today I am 28 weeks and 4 days. I am feeling good, except this weekend was a bit of an emotional roller coaster. I seemed to cry at the drop of the hat, for no real apparent reason (Caleb helpfully pointed out that it's probably because I'm pregnant). I cried Friday night because the baby registry website wasn't working, and cried on Saturday because I stubbed my toe (plus I was hot and hungry).

No tears on Sunday though - and we even went on a tour of the maternity floor at the hospital and it didn't freak me out. When we first got there and sat down, waiting for it to start, I did whisper to Caleb, "The next time we're here, a baby is going to be coming out of my vagina....." To which he replied, "Whoooo!" Not quite what I was going for, but ok.

I am feeling like things are starting to come together with baby preparations. We are almost done with the baby registry, and just need to make final decisions on the big items like stroller, car seat, video monitor, etc. Baby showers should be scheduled soon, and we're starting to get things together for the nursery. My mom has offered to make curtains and a matching crib skirt, so I need to pick out some fabric for that. My mother-in-law has found us a crib (we were cool with a used one and she found a white one that I liked), and she is looking for a dresser that she will paint blue. She is also coming up to help paint the nursery this weekend, and we might be able to pick up a glider and ottoman that a coworker is giving us! I can't wait to see the room come together - and now I need to get moving on decor too!

Below are some pictures to give you an idea of my vision for the nursery... less than 3 months to work on it!!

The first four are inspiration pictures that gave me ideas.... We don't have an actual "theme," but it will be light grey walls with bright color accents. I'm hoping the curtain fabric will help pull it all together.

Paint color (Let It Rain by Sherwin Williams)
Example of how I want to use a dresser for a changing table
Blues I like for painting the dresser
The glider we're getting
The decor I picked up from IKEA that has the bright colors I like

Art I like
Art I really like but was unfortunately discontinued!
