Vale.

Hola,

I´m still here in Valencia and doing well, keeping really busy with classes and the fun stuff too, of course. We´ve been to a fútbol (soccer) game, but sadly Valencia C.F. just tied with their opponent, Real Sociedad. It was still an exciting game, the whole atmosphere was charged and full of energy. We have also visited a beautiful cathedral in the center of town, by a famous plaza with other pretty buildings to look at. We climbed for what seemed like an hour to the top of the cathedral, and we were able to see an aerial view of the city. I never realized how big it really was! We have walked all over it, and now I´m really impressed with myself to have walked that far, that much.

So far I´m doing good, not too homesick, mostly just excited to see everyone once I get home. I am missing some key foods from home, however. Here is a list of foods I want to eat right now:
  • Peas! I want a big bowl of frozen peas, heated up in the microwave with butter, salt, and pepper.
  • An icy-cold glass of AE Skim Milk. Here their milk is so pasteurized that they keep it in their cupboards, and they serve it either warmed in the microwave or lukewarm. And I think it´s probably like 10% or something. Yuck.
  • Real meat. We get good chicken, but I want some real hamburger or at least to know what my meat is before I eat it. That would be nice.
  • Dr. Pepper. I´ve only seen it in France, and it was not that great. I miss its deliciousness.
  • Pasta Roni, Spaghettios, Chicken & Stars, Macaroni & Cheese (the Spongebob kind). Pretty much all the food I lived off of at school this year. Don´t diss it, it got me through an entire year.
  • Rice and Quesadillas from La Fuente. I was addicted before, and nothing´s changed.
  • Anything homemade by my mom, grandmas, or Caleb´s mom. So all of you, feel free to cook me anything you want. I´ll eat it, and love it.

But there are also some new things that I really love here:

  • Paella. This is a Valencian dish with rice, chicken, and any vegetables you want to throw in. They have some special kind of flavoring that turns the rice yellow, and it´s delicious.
  • Tortillas Españolas. These are like an egg and potato pancake... awesome.
  • Sangria. Of course.
  • Lentils with Guacamole stuff. It´s good, really. Kind of like beans, but surprisingly, I dig it.
  • Plátanos fritos! These are fried plantains, which are like really big bananas. Just cut them up and fry them in olive oil, and get ready for awesomeness.
  • Gummies! Christina and I found this kind of gummies that we are addicted to. Half of the varieties are sugar-free, but you would never know. I´ll try to bring some of these home, but I can´t make any promises about sharing them. I love them too much.
  • Bertal´s ice cream. I like to mix the chocolate with the orange-mango mix. I don´t even know what makes it so good, but it´s my new favorite ice cream in the WORLD. And I can say that because I´m a world traveller now.

Anyways, I need to get to class, but I´ll try to put up a link to more of my pictures soon.

¡Adios!
