Hola again from Valencia,
Well, things have settled down here as far as homework goes. I have a test tomorrow but am feeling pretty good about it, so I feel like I can relax a little more.
We went to a bull fight on Friday, and I actually liked it! At first it was a little horrifying, because yes, they do torture and kill the bulls. We actually saw 6 bulls in all die during the bull fights. I felt really sad and horrified at the first one, but once you watch a couple more, you just kind of get used to it. And the whole atmosphere of the place is really cool too. The people get so excited, and the matadors are so into it. (And sewn into their tight pants, I think.) It was a very Spanish experience that I´m glad I got to see.
We also went to the City of Arts and Sciences, where we saw all of the world´s second largest aquarium, and then looked around a science museum for a while too. The aquarium was really neat- I got to see some of my favorite sea animals: seals, penguins, dolphins, and beluga whales! We also got to see a whole dolphin show, which was pretty cool too. We then went and walked around a science museum, but by that time we were so tired from the aquarium we didn´t do much. It was a long day, but very fun. I´ll try to get the pictures of everything up soon so you can see how cool the buildings were, too. The architecture of the City of Arts and Sciences is world-famous, and so unique and stunning. I loved it.
On Sunday we also went to the Festival of Corpus Christi. There was a parade, traditional dances, flea markets, and lots of excited people. We didn´t really know what was going on for a lot of it, but it was exciting to be around the native Spanish people, not so tourist-y, and really feel like we were a part of Valencia.
This next weekend we are hopefully going to a fútbol (soccer) game, going to a Spanish drag show Saturday night, and maybe going to an open air market on Saturday or Sunday morning. It should be fun- one thing I love about Valencia is that there is so much to do!
