¡Estoy en Valencia!

Hola a todos,

I have been in Valencia for a while, and I like it a lot. The weather has been beautiful, the city is really interesting, and my classes are... barely tolerable.

I have one class where from what our professor told us, I don´t think we have to do anything. He said that he doens´t like tests, so he is going to base our grades on participation. The class is called Spain Today, so it is interesting and the professor is really fun. The second class, Latin America Today (don´t even ask why I decided to take it in Spain), is the tough one. We have an 8 page research paper, a 3 page paper over a chapter of advanced Spanish writing, a presentation over a movie, 2 tests, and another presentation over our 8 page paper! And did I mention that the chapter of reading, 3 page paper, movie presentation, and test are all due by Wednesday of next week?! So needless to say, I have been locked in the computer lab at the university, wasting away all of the beautiful weather in Valencia. Grr.

But I do really like Valencia so far. We have a great Spanish "mom" named Beatris who cooks, cleans, and does our laundry for us. I could really get used to that. We live with only her and another girl studying Spanish from Switzerland named Gloria, so we have a nice apartment full of girls. Beatris is really good about cooking us stuff we like, and so far I haven´t had to eat anything too weird. I have been trying new things though, and now I can eat some beans, and I tried tomatoes, olives, calamari, and other things. Be proud!

We have walked around a lot of the city, and of course been to the beach a few times. But just this weekend we are really starting to see some of the cool things in Valencia. Tonight we are going to a bull fight, and this weekend we are going to what they call the City of Arts and Sciences, which is a group of museums, an aquarium, and a planetarium. We also have plans to go to a fútbol (soccer) game in town, and I may make a trip to Barcelona soon.

I will make sure to do some more frequent updates once I am done with my mountains of homework.

¡Adios!
