Baby on the Move

Baby C was on the move - both by car and by kicking the crap out of me in utero! (Seriously, it's already getting a little "Alien" up in here with her kicking and bulging out the sides of my belly!)

We had a great trip to Colorado last weekend! We got to see lots of friends, do a little hiking, and relax. The drive out there wasn't too bad. We stopped often to stretch, walk, go to the bathroom, and drank lots of water. I got a little swollen on the way out there, but was fine on the way back.

Here's me riding the great Sinclair dinosaur at one stop on the way out. :)

Hiking made me a little crampy/uncomfortable in my belly, but not too bad. It's been weird that so far, walking has been the most uncomfortable exercise for me (I don't run or anything). But even working out on an elliptical type machine, or things like yoga or strength training is less uncomfortable than walking.

Here's Caleb and I hiking near Boulder (with our friend Andrew as photographer):

Another fun thing I did in Colorado was go to Ikea with my friend Tara, where I bought my first things for the nursery! As far as decor, we aren't really doing a theme. Walls will be neutral - either a grey or blue-grey - and the rest will have pops of bright colors. Right now I'm thinking colors like lime green, bright pink, teal/minty blue, orange, yellow..... Just a good mix so that most things will match and we can mix things in and out. I am hoping to find some fun artwork for the walls - right now I have a feminist print I need to work on and I'm hoping to find something that references one of Caleb's favorite video games.... we'll see. One thing I know I want is some sort of artwork with a rainbow in it. After you have a miscarriage, when you do have a successful pregnancy and have a baby, it's often referred to as your "rainbow baby", and I definitely consider Baby C to be just that. You can see some more of my nursery inspiration on my Pinterest board for Baby Carroll.

Here's what I bought Baby C at Ikea - everything was so damn cute and entirely necessary, especially the cloth vegetables! hehe

I can't handle the cuteness of the little glowy guy - he glows blue and green! The pink thing is a funky lamp.
Before we left for Colorado I had a midwife appointment, where I got another clean bill of health. Unfortunately as we drove back home, I started feeling a cold come on and progressively get worse. It's started to clear up though, which is good, because I can't take any of the good stuff. I got through it with some cough drops, a little bit of Tylenol, and lots of honey, lemon and tea.

For now I'll leave you with some fun pics... Until next time!

Good thing I have this cheeser to keep me sane
He also buys me donuts for Mothers Day :)
