So I don't feel like there's much to update this week, except that I am waiting anxiously for Wednesday when we find out the sex of Baby Carroll! I'm not gonna lie, the last few weeks when I think about it, I keep picturing a girl. And we all know that girls are more fun to decorate for and dress. But I honestly will be excited either way - I just want to know!
I will be 20 weeks tomorrow. Twenty weeks. Halfway there. It's so crazy to think about! I used to anxiously look at a chart that would tell me how my chances of miscarrying would decrease week by week.... now I suppose I'll start looking at viability! From what I've heard/read, 26 weeks is technically v-day (when viability is pretty certain), but fully cooked, or lower chances of permanent disabilities or really tough struggles is more around 35 weeks. I'm still a ways away, but half done feels like a big accomplishment for now.
I guess we have been busy the last couple of weeks - we have chosen a doula and a daycare, but need to wait to hear back if they have an opening for us at the daycare for the time we need. I'll update more on these later as we know more.
Nausea continues to slowly improve, but I'm still on Zofran (a quarter pill per day). I seem to just need a little to keep the edge off. I have pretty good energy, but I'm definitely more achey and much more uncomfortable when trying to sleep, which is really annoying. You know that lovely feeling on a Saturday morning, when you are sleeping in and bed just feels so comfy and good you never want to leave? That doesn't exist for me anymore. I'm tired and want to keep dozing, but if I'm not actually sleeping, I can't lay in bed because I'm uncomfortable. My one saving grace that at least helps me sleep most of the night is the Snoogle. Below is how I sleep now, in the middle of The Fort, as Caleb calls it. I need to be surrounded by pillows, with something between my legs and under my belly since I have to lay on my side.
My belly is definitely growing - I am now fitting into less normal shirts and filling out more actual maternity wear. It's kind of fun to look more definitively pregnant, but also just uncomfortable to have the extra weight in front of me, with my balance thrown off a little and aches and pains of things shifting and stretching out. I've also noticed this week that I am more easily winded and tired during exercise, and came home after a walk the other day with swollen ankles and feet. Fun. So glad that's begun. But nothing too bad, so I'm going to do my best to keep as active as I can.
Here is the bump this week. Stay tuned for next week when we can start calling Baby Carroll "he" or "she"......... so excited!!
