Pull Ups

I've decided that one of my new life goals is to be able to do a pull up with ease. I have never done one in my life - I seriously lack upper body strength! I have started a training program that is supposed to eventually get you up to 50 pull ups in a row.... I don't know if I will ever get that far, but being able to do a few would be great!

Here is week two of the "prep program" (I'm not even ready for the real program yet):



And here is my set up at home:

Pull up bar just barely fits on bathroom door - somehow every door in our house is in a corner or has some part of the wall jutting out, making it hard to find a good place to put the pull up bar! This door is also too narrow, thus the towel. I still need a chair to do assisted pull ups for now.

This is my current set up to do my Australian Pull Ups, where you hang from the bar with your arms straight and shoulders underneath your hands, with your feet out straight in front of you, and pull up at an angle. Supposed to work the back, mostly just really difficult right now!
In other news, I made chocolate-peanut butter-chocolate chip cookies tonight. Pretty sure that just negated any workout I did.


However, I feel justified in my cookie-making, because we had another set of neighbors surprise us by snow blowing our driveway and scooping our sidewalk and front step. This neighborhood is really great so far! Good deeds like that must be repaid in cookies.

I could never climb the damn rope in PE class. Or do a pull up for that matter.
