Zombie Run!

On August 18, my friend Elizabeth, Caleb and I drove down to St. Louis to run in our first Zombie Run - officially, the Run for Your Lives! 5k. On the course were people dressed up like zombies that tried to take your flag football-like flags from your belt. You started with three flags, and if you crossed the finish line without any flags left, you became one of the undead. Sadly, no one in our group survived!

Sadly, Caleb and I were zombies at the end.

Our running group plus two of our friends that came down to be zombies!

Our running group.... we "died". :)

I even crossed the finish line dripping blood - my blood! Right at the beginning of the race, an over-zealous zombie ran me into a tree while grabbing my flag, cutting my arm open on a branch. I finished the race and had it cleaned and bandaged after, but later that day, when the wound wouldn't close at all, we decided we'd better have a doctor check it out, and lo and behold - I needed my first stitches!

I didn't get any picture of when it was bleeding profusely... this is later in the day  when we decided to get it checked out since the wound was so gaping.

A couple days later, three little stitches. Stitches are out now and doing fine!

It was a fun race with lots of adrenaline... not sure if I'll do it again, but glad I experienced it!

THAT IS MY NIGHTMARE!

Even though I know those are just regular people, I would probably either run super fast like they were really coming after me, or just fall down into a ball and start crying.

Also, your cut is gross. Ew.

Why not do it again? I've been thinking about doing a zombie run with some of my zombie obsessed friends. Is there some reason I might want to reconsider?

Andrea - It was fun, but I personally don't like the feeling of people chasing me, and I'd get mad when they took my flags. :)

Also, I didn't think the obstacles for this race were that great, and the "Apocalypse Party" after the race was over left some to be desired, when compared to other after race parties. I also wouldn't drive that far to do it again - I might consider it if they came to Iowa and registration wasn't too much.

There is a zombie run in Crete, NE at the end of October. It's not the Run For Your Lives run and registration is only $25 and you get a t-shirt, gift pack, and a soup dinner afterwards. But I agree with Jessica... that would be my nightmare. I honestly think I would get too scared. I'm a sissy la la.
