3/4-3/7

3/4 - "You are the most amazing thing that has happened and keeps happening to me." - Caleb

3/5 - This day I was thankful for fun runs! Early in the day at work, I told my coworkers about a Zombie 5k race where zombies chase you while you run. Well, excitement caught on and we are now signed up! It made me think about all the other runs Caleb and I have signed up for so far this year, or plan to do. Here is a list - this will be a fun year!
  • 3/10 - St. Paddy's Day 5k Bar Run - Des Moines, IA
  • 5/19 - Gladiator Assault Challenge (5 miles) - Boone, IA
  • 7/14 - Warrior Dash (5k) - Earlham, IA
  • 8/18 - Run for Your Lives Zombie 5k - St. Louis, MO
  • 10/21 - Des Moines Marathon (26.2 miles) - Des Moines, IA
  • 11/17 - Living History Farms Race (7.1 miles) - Clive, IA

3/6 - "The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are." - J. Pierpont Morgan - Last night I had to finish my 15-page midterm paper for one of my classes. It was rough. I am so over this class - when I think about Congress, rational choice theory, interest groups, institutionalization, political participation.... ugh, my head wants to explode. But I have to keep thinking that this gets me closer to getting my Master's. Which, I'm not quite sure where I want that to take me, but I've decided to not "stay where I am," life-wise. I want to keep moving forward.

3/7 - Today I've been thinking about some other things coming up this summer - weddings! Here are the ones we have lined up so far. I'm so happy for all of our friends and thankful to be invited to be a part of their big days!
  • 5/5 - Callie Jeffryes and Glen Bonebrake - Ankeny, IA
  • 6/2 - Jim Ide and Lindsey Grose - Creston, IA
  • 6/16 - Ashley White and Kirk Artist - Lake Rathbun, IA
  • 8/11 - Nick Juelsgaard and Kelly Teitsworth - Ames, IA

3/8 - "You have to get to the point where going for it is more important than winning or losing." - Arthur Ashe - I get behind so easily, I thought I'd post ahead for tomorrow since I found a quote I liked. I kind of feel like this when I consider doing a marathon this year. I haven't registered, or formally announced it, but many people know I am considering it. It's kind of on my bucket list, something I want to do before I die, or get too old. (Although Nancy Anthony can argue that - she did her first marathon at age 49! She's amazing!) I'm pretty nervous about it, if I can handle the training, if I can finish the race, etc.... but I feel like I'd always regret it if I never tried.
