Anyway, I thought I'd share a couple of photos of the condo we are hoping to get in Ankeny soon. We looked at a lot of rentals yesterday, were pretty underwhelmed with the quality of places based on the prices, and decided on this place because of price, in-unit laundry, and lease flexibility. I hope we get it so we can be done with this process!
The place is a work in progress. The owner just closed on it and is making some improvements before new tenants move in. The biggest thing is that he tore up some old carpet and is replacing it with nice tile. Although this place might be kind of temporary, I am already excited with what creative things I can do with it on a budget. I feel like it's more of a blank canvas to work with than our current place, which is furnished and awesome, but not decorated to my taste.

This first one shows the front door to the far right, with a hallway leading to the main area. Bedrooms and bathroom/laundry are to the right. The kitchen is being re-tiled, along with the entryway hallway. Behind me is the rest of the living room and a sliding glass door that leads out to a little patio.
This next picture is standing in the hallway , looking at the laundry and bathroom. The second bedroom is directly to the right of the bathroom, with the master bedroom door near the front door, off the hallway.
It's not the biggest place ever, but it's clean, it's better priced than a lot we saw, decent location, some new/improved features, and some flexibility on the lease. We are considering starting to look for a house to buy in the next six months or so, because we figure we'd be paying a similar amount for a mortgage as we are paying for rent.
