First Anniversary

A little over a week ago, Caleb and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary. And we really celebrated in style...

On Saturday (June 4), we ran Dam to Dam together, a 20k (12.4 mile) race in Des Moines with our good friends David and Christina (both in our wedding). We ran the Half Marathon with them last fall, so it was really fun to get the group back together. Caleb and I ran the entire race together, with him pulling ahead of me only at the last mile or so. We both accomplished our goal of finishing under 2 hours, which I think is pretty impressive considering the heat and humidity. We then spent the rest of the day with Christina, and then spent the night with Nick (officiated our wedding) and his girlfriend Kelly in Ames.

On Sunday morning (June 5 - anniversary day), we went to Boone, where we went skydiving for the first time! It was awesome - I was maybe a little anxious, but not scared in the plane or during the jump. The instructor/tandem jumper said I was a natural. It was much easier than I thought it would be - the hardest part was getting out of the plane's door with a guy strapped to my back. The rest was exhilarating and awesome. I would do it again in a heartbeat, maybe for about 1/8 of the cost.

I'm so, so thankful to be married to such a fun husband that I can share these experiences with. Our first year of marriage was great and went by in a blur. I'm really excited for our future together, as we plan new adventures and grow together. We've got big plans for the next few years, and I wouldn't want to make them with anyone else.
