Well, we aren't done yet, but we made a lot of progress painting this weekend. We still have some touch-ups and trim work to do, and of course pictures to hang and other decor to complete, but I'm really pleased with how it all looks.
 |
| Living room before painting. You can just see a little wallpaper in the upper right corner. The walls were beige with a light tan sponge painted on top of it.... very 90's. |
 |
| After - the picture is very dark, but it already looks so much better without the wallpaper. I LOVE the "greige" color we used. |
 |
| Better, lighter photo of the color. |
 |
| Two pictures that will most likely go on the wall shown in the photo above. The background of these goes really well with the "greige". |
 |
| This piece will probably be hung in this corner, above the bookcase. |
 |
| Kind of dark picture of the kitchen, but it is already so much more bright and cheery! I am getting used to the yellow, and I have some artwork that will tie it all together, shown below. |
 |
| Excuse the mess, but here it shows the yellow more. It's a big contrast, but I have faith... |
 |
| These two prints will help pull the colors together, and introduce our accent color, kind of an indigo blue. |
 |
| Here is another piece that will go on the opposite wall, but just wanted to put it next to the yellow to show how it pulls from it with some of its colors. |
Big shoutout to Nolan, Steph, Tara F, Kim and my mom for helping us paint this weekend. They helped the work go so much faster, and probably kept Caleb and I from killing each other! :)
I'm really excited to keep working on projects for our house. Other rooms to paint will be:
- master bedroom
- master bath
- upper stairway/entry/hallway
- basement/stairway
I also have some more projects on my list for this summer that I'll share eventually, including:
- painting picture frames for a big gallery wall
- DIY padded and tufted headboards
- refinishing metal cabinets for garage or basement (Caleb)
- firepit in backyard (Caleb)
I love being able to personalize our home! It's a lot of work but I have the summer off from school so I'm hoping it will be VERY productive!

Looks great! I am kind of disappointed I didn't get to see it before you started painting. Oh well! :)
I love the yellow with that artwork you picked out--it will all look so happy and colorful! The indigo blue is a beautiful touch as well.
