Air India- Who knew we were visiting India on this trip?

First of all, I am alive and doing well in Frankfurt, minus a cold that I got while walking around in the cold rain. Apparently you can get a cold anywhere- so much for immunity on my grand trip to Europe...

But for the real post: Lessons Learned While Flying on Air India

First of all, we chose to fly on Air India because the tickets were so unbelievably cheap. However, upon boarding, we soon found out why they were so cheap. It really is true: you get what you pay for. Small seats, no leg room, screaming children (way more than expected), Hindi as the first language, English as an afterthought, weird Indian mystery food, and strange Indian sitcoms in place of in-flight movies.

Lessons I learned:
  • If there is a screaming child that kicks the back of the seat during the entire ride, you will definitely sit in front of of them.
  • Don´t eat the mystery crackers too fast- they will set your mouth on fire until the stewardess comes around with tiny glasses of water.
  • The strange white stuff is not, I repeat is NOT cottage cheese. And no amount of sugar, salt, or creamer you put in it will make it taste any better. Trust me.
  • Claim your armrests soon, and don´t abandon your post. The woman sitting next to you will take them as soon as you let your guard down.
  • You can pick your seats when you check your luggage. You will not magically end up sitting by your friends.
  • You will, however, meet some interesting people. I, for instance, met a professional paintballer from California that was travelling the world for free, going from tournament to tournament. We also met a nice German couple that had been living in South Carolina for two years, and the man had a Southern accent with his English, but a touch of German too.... interesting.

Well, my time is almost up, so I will say auf wiedersehen!
